Week 8/9

Week 8: today I got chance to start my photographic makeup assignment. This gave me a head start in getting closer to finishing it! All I have left to do now is create a mood board. Getting this chance to start my assignment was great because I feel like I am another step closer to gaining my qualification!

Week 9: this week I have been updating my tracking sheet. It has allowed me to see what assessments I have completed and also showed me my progress. Keeping my tracking sheet upto date is handy as  I can always check it to remind me of what I need to get done.

I feel that I am progressing very well and have been getting my assessments completed well. I have few assessments left to do. How I have completed my assessments has been to a high standard (if I do say so myself) and I'm pretty proud of myself!

Week 6/7

Week 6/7

This week and last week we have had clients in. This is helping everyone catch up on assessments that they have not done. Last week I did my fantasy face paint assessment and passed with flying colours. Having more days to do our assessments is really handy as then we have more chance to get a client in and get our assessments completed. 

We also filled in our action plans to give us a guide to show what assessments we have left to do. These action plans were a great idea because now I can see what I have left to do,  what I have done and how long Many weeks I have left  to complete my assessments! 

From the beginning of starting our work experience slot on a Wednesday just 6 weeks ago, I feel like I have come on leaps and bounds, and improving lots! I think these sessions have given me more confidence in different areas from carrying out treatments to cv writing. Hopefully I can improve even more! 

Manicure practice from the other week.

Week 5

Today we answered interview questions based around Ragdale Hall. This was quite helpful because it has helped me learn how I would answer real interview questions. After break we practiced nail painting 

 (either french polish or red), I really need to practice because my painting skills aren't up to scratch. So hopefully with this practice I will improve!

Week 4

My work area

It is now week 4 and today it was my turn to do a trade test. I set up my work area and started my manicure. I had 30 minutes to complete it, and I did! although I finished, my painting wasn't up to professional standards, so I'll have to practice. I got good feedback from Shannon and off of Beth, so overall I am pretty pleased with myself. 

 Week 3

Today we did a trade test first. We got into pairs, one of us was the therapist and the other was the salon owner. Shannon was the therapist and had 30 minutes to complete a manicure, she nearly finished with just one hand left to paint; despite this she did a fantastic job! 

Next we had to update our CV's to 'apply' for a job at the fabulous Ragdale Hall. Writing CV's is seriously helpful because it is giving us more experience in applying for different kind of jobs and how to adapt them to specific places.

Today has been seriously helpful because it is preparing us for what we will have to do in the future once we have become qualified beauty therapists!

Week 2

Today we have been learning about how to write a CV. It has been very helpful because I have never written my own before and using Reed CV builder made writing one really easy. Reed CV builder breaks each section of writing a CV down which makes it simple and understandable. Hopefully this will help me in the future when applying for jobs and furthering my career.

'My pale skin' by Em ford is a blog for all things pale skin and pale make up related mainly, which is really helpful because I am VERY pale myself. Although there is also posts about lifestyle and self confidence. This blog really stood out to me as the style of writing she uses makes the reader feel as if she is just writing to them. The blog includes lots of make up tutorials which she goes through step by step and making things easy to understand. The self confidence section talks about her self confidence journey and how you can take the first steps on starting yours. Overall 'My pale skin' is a fantastic blog.

Week 1

This is me trying to set up my blog. Trying to create it was quite stressful because nothing would work, that was until Martin (the IT expert) came in and helped everyone to set up. Once I got started it became a breeze! 

I'm hoping that this class will help me gain experience working beauty industry. Also I will learn more about all different aspects of the industry, such as how to build a clientele or how to sell products. Writing this blog over these next 10 weeks will show how far I have progressed along the course and maybe even help my future plans.

In the future I hope to have my own business within the beauty industry. If my future plans become a reality, I hope that the business is very successful and provides a reputable service that my clients keep coming back for.
